Honourable William Kwasi Sabi, was a Member of Parliament for Dormaa East Constituency in the Bono region of Ghana and was the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation and is currently assigned to the Monitoring and Evaluation Secretariat as the Technical Advisor. He is a highly skilled and experienced Health Economist with expertise in Public Health and Monitoring and Evaluation.
He obtained a BSc. Administration (Management Option) from the University of Ghana in 1994 and a Masters in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town in 2005.
He has over 20 years’ professional experience in the Private and Public Sectors and International Development Organizations. He worked as an Administrator at Lufthansa German Airlines; Lecturer at the Catholic University of Ghana and the Deputy Director of Health Services for the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani in 2002. At the National Health Insurance Authority, he served as the First Regional Director for the then Brong – Ahafo region as well as the First National Operations Manager at the Head Office. He played a lead role in the initiation and establishment of the Community Based Health Insurance Schemes at the Dormaa, Jaman North and South Districts and contributed to drafting the Policy on National Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana in 2003.
Honourable Sabi also served as a Training and Management Consultant at Management for Development Foundation of Netherlands and as a consultant to the Medical Credit fund of Pharmacess-Netherlands. Honourable Sabi also provided consultancy services to the DANIDA Health Sector Support Office, World Bank, USAID. He has also provided Management Consultancy Services in many countries including Tanzania, Mozambique, Togo, Liberia and Ghana. In the Ghanaian Parliament he has served on a number of Committees including the Committee on Health (as Vice Chairman), Public Accounts and Poverty Alleviation Strategy.
